Instructions
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
In a large mixing bowl, toss the sliced apples with lemon juice, ground cinnamon, and nutmeg until well coated.
Spread the apple mixture evenly in a greased 9x13 inch baking dish.
In a separate bowl, mix brown sugar, oats, flour, melted butter, and salt until crumbly. If using, add the chopped nuts for an extra crunch.
Evenly sprinkle the oat topping over the apples, ensuring all the apple slices are covered.
Bake in the preheated oven for 35-40 minutes, or until the apples are bubbly and the topping is golden brown.
Remove from oven and let cool for 10 minutes before serving.
Notes
Serve warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream on top and a sprinkle of cinnamon for a stunning finish.
