1cupvanilla yogurt or whipped cream for serving (optional)
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x13 inch baking dish with a little butter or non-stick spray.
In a large bowl, combine the sliced apples with ½ cup of brown sugar and 1 teaspoon of cinnamon. Toss until the apples are well coated, then spread them evenly in the bottom of the prepared baking dish.
In the same bowl, mix the rolled oats, remaining brown sugar, flour, nutmeg, salt, and melted butter until crumbly. If using, stir in the chopped nuts.
Sprinkle the oat mixture evenly over the apples, covering them completely.
Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes, or until the apples are tender and the top has turned golden brown.
Remove the casserole from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes before serving.
Serve warm, either on its own or with a scoop of vanilla yogurt or whipped cream on top if desired.
Notes
Serve warm with vanilla yogurt or whipped cream for an extra treat.
